Project Name: Seal Harbor Painting Studio

Painting Studio:

The project entailed the renovation and addition to a 600 sq.ft. garage set behind an existing residence in Seal Harbor, Maine.  The studio repurposed the garage foundation and expanded the interior volume as the Client is an accomplished oil painter who often works on monumental canvas sizes of 10′ x 12′ or larger. The studio has an unassuming solid stained white cedar shingle exterior and cedar roof with a covered porch area facing a granite patio / sculpture garden enveloped by natural ledge outcroppings. The interior is minimally adorned, accented with whitened beech floors and timber trusses with the main feature being a full height glazed wall with sliding glass panels that opens the interior to the adjacent patio. The Client also commissioned an integrated easel with counterweight system, a work table and custom cabinetry.  Large sliding barn doors provide working access to the interior.
