High Tide River House
Project Name
High Tide River House
The delightful client goals were for something modern, small, with a planted roof and high performance regarding energy. The highly restricted budget was the big challenge.
The wooded site overlooking a raven where the high tide meets freshwater on a stream was beautiful.
The solution was to embrace simplicity or in essence, building a shoebox with an inverted lid (as the planter). A portion of this lid was peeled up to let the southerly sun into the living spaces.
The plan, essentially a rectangle (or bar house) places its long axis to the view.
