SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

All submissions for the 2018 AIA Maine Design Awards must be digital and submitted at http://www.aiamaine.me/2018design by Friday, March 16, 2018. No binders will be accepted. The decisions of the jurors will be based solely on the materials submitted.

 Please note that projects are grouped by category for ease of jury coordination only. The jury may honor projects by categories or may elect to make no such distinctions.

  • Project narrative:
    • A brief, 400 word or less description of the project, including site description, special constraints, total square feet of the project, year of completion, construction budget or cost, any design challenges and solutions.
    • Do not include any identification of entrant or project team in the project narrative section.
    • The jurors have a limited time with each submission. Please format text accordingly.
  • Submitters must agree to the 2018 AIA Maine Design Awards Permission Form for Textual and Visual Works provided on the online submission form.

 Project Images

  • Submissions must include no more than fourteen (14) digital slides arranged in the order you wish them viewed.
  • Please note that your first slide will be used as the project’s feature image on printed scrolls, on our website, and for winning entries in Maine Home + Design.
  • Each digital slide must be 2MB or less, in jpg format. Slides can be no larger than 3600px by 3600px.
  • A composition of drawings, images, and other illustrations may constitute one (1) digital slide as long as the composition complies with all other submission requirements.
  • Entry must include a minimum of a site plan (including north arrow and graphic scale), floor plans, one (1) building section, and one (1) wall section if applicable to project type.
  • Do not include any identification of entrant or project team in the digital slide section.
  • Do not include project narrative in the digital slide section.
  • Winners will provide high-resolution imagery for publication after judging is complete
  • Please note: submissions will be reviewed by jurors on a computer and / or projection screen. Review line drawing submissions & text carefully for graphic quality at this resolution.

OPTIONAL NARRATIVE:

The American Institute of Architects recently released, “Where architects stand: A statement of our values” which includes:

  • We stand for architecture that strengthens our communities
  • We stand for a sustainable future
  • We stand for protecting communities from the impact of climate change

Does your project excel in one of these areas? If so, please describe how these values are integrated within your project’s overall design goals.
