Project Name

Poke Pop Restaurant Fitup

Our design challenge was to fit up a long, thin tenant space for a new restaurant in Portland, called Poke Pop, serving a fresh fusion of Asian and Hawaiian food.  The owners were looking for a unique feel that would support an in-and-out scenario for take-out customers while providing an inviting place to dine inside. We used the Asian technique of origami to fold a continuous dining enclosure, equipped with a built-in seating bench, concealed LED lighting, wall finish, and an angled & tapered ceiling surface to warmly envelope the dine-in customers. This singular folded feature provides the signature design element for the space while organizing a clear delineation of service area, circulation and seating. The restaurant opened in August 2018.
